Nicknamed “the Riviera of the South China Sea”, the bustling holiday resort of Nha Trang is set beautifully by a sweeping stretch of white sandy beaches and surrounded by verdant mountain ranges. Add in a spattering of picturesque islands in the clear waters of the crescent bay and you’re in one of Vietnam’s finest beach destinations.
The impressive six-kilometer shoreline in the center is the city’s main tourist draw, but there’s much more to Nha Trang than just beach bumming. Local restaurants cater to all taste buds and budgets, and there’s a good range of shopping options while cosmopolitan clubs and bars can keep you entertained well into the night. Be sure to also pay a visit to the ancient Po Nagar Cham towers, located on a hill north of the center.
Back at the beach, water sports of all kinds are available, including some of the best scuba diving in all of Vietnam. A typical island-hopping boat cruise will include a bit of snorkeling, and hiking as well as some fresh seafood served onboard, so don’t leave Nha Trang without treating yourself to one of these efficient day trips.
